A New Hold on Microscopes
New OE adapter microscope clamp prototype
The new OE development is humming along and today I’d like to introduce a new microscope clamping mechanism that is the best of OE1 and OE2. It’s a major step forward by combining the powerful clamping force of OE1, with the self centering mechanism of OE2. This new prototype will hold with an incredible force!
More details will be out soon but for now, the microscope clamp part of the adapter is undergoing further refinement but will be available soon for download to alpha test. If you would like to be part of this testing and can 3D print a copy, make sure to connect with me through openocular.com and you’ll be sent a copy as soon as it becomes available.
A New Adapter Begins
New 3D printable smartphone to microscope adapter design begins
I'm thrilled to announce that the journey for the next iteration of the OE adapter has officially begun! Since launching the OE2 in January 2022, I've been inspired by the incredible images, videos, and discoveries you've made. Your feedback has been crucial for the development of this project and I can’t wait to share and hear your feedback on this next OE.
With this new adapter, you can expect a full overhaul of the design. The main goals are to increase the rock-solid stability of the adapter to the eyepiece and to improve the quick alignment of the phone to the eyepiece. If you have any other improvement you would like to see, please let me know and leave your comments below.
Developing the OE is an adventure, and I want you to be a part of it. I'll be sharing updates, challenges, and triumphs along the way. Let's learn and create together!
